Consistent with the year-to-date trend, U.S. Treasury rates continued to decline and the yield curve continued to flatten in August. In particular, the short-to-middle portion of the curve flattened as the difference between 10-year and 2-year yields declined 18 basis points, while the difference between 30-year and 10-year yields fell just 2 basis points.
